His academic interests include optical information processing, signal and image processing, and optoelectronic and optically interconnected computing systems.

 

Honors, Awards and Other Membership

1He received the 1998 ICO International Prize in Optics and the Ernst Abbe Medal of Carl Zeiss Foundation. He is one of the youngest recipients ever of the Scientific and Technical Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK) Science Award (1999), among other awards and prizes. He is also one of the youngest persons elected to full membership of the Turkish Academy of Sciences, and a Fellow of OSA (2002), SPIE (2012), IEEE (2013), AAIA (2022). He was selected one of “100 Leading Turkish Scientists” in the economics magazine Platin, and one of 10 for which a full page interview was published (2014).
