We are delighted to announce that Dr. Asad M. Madni, a globally renowned engineer, innovator, and educator, has been appointed as a Member of the Academic Committee of the CORE Academy.

The Academic Committee is a vital component of the Academy’s organizational structure, responsible for overseeing and advising on academic affairs and providing strategic guidance for the Academy’s future development. It plays a central role in upholding academic standards, nominating and electing fellowship candidates, and guiding the strategic direction of research across the Academy and its affiliated institutions. Experts with distinguished achievements and reputations in the related fields are invited to join as members of the Academic Committee.

Dr. Madni is a Fellow of the CORE Academy in the Division of Engineering and Applied Sciences. He is currently an Independent Consultant, Distinguished Adjunct Professor, and Distinguished Scientist in the Electrical & Computer Engineering Department at UCLA, Co-supervisor of the High-Speed Electronics Laboratory, and Faculty Fellow in the UCLA Institute of Transportation Studies and Connected Autonomous Electric Vehicle Consortium. From 2006 to 2016, he also served as Executive Managing Director & Chief Technical Officer of Crocker Capital, a private venture firm specializing in emerging technologies.
From 1992 until its $600 million acquisition by Schneider Electric in 2006, Dr. Asad M. Madni served as President, Chief Operating Officer, and Chief Technology Officer of BEI Technologies Inc. During his tenure, he led the development and commercialization of pioneering sensing and control technologies for aerospace, defense, commercial aviation, healthcare, and transportation sectors. Among his most notable innovations are the servo control system for the Hubble Space Telescope’s Star Selector, which enabled its unprecedented pointing precision; a minimally invasive endometrial ablation system that advanced the treatment of menorrhagia; and the MEMS GyroChip®, which transformed navigation and stability control in both aviation and automotive systems. These technologies have saved countless lives and laid the groundwork for the continued evolution of autonomous systems worldwide.
Prior to BEI, Dr. Madni held senior executive and technical roles at Systron Donner Corporation, ultimately serving as Chairman, President, and CEO. There, he made foundational contributions to the development of RF and microwave systems, significantly enhancing electronic warfare simulation capabilities and the combat readiness of U.S. and allied naval forces.
Dr. Madni holds over 69 patents and has authored more than 200 peer-reviewed publications. His work bridges academia and industry, theory and application, and continues to advance the fields of intelligent sensors, systems engineering, signal processing, and cyber-physical systems. Beyond his technical achievements, he has played a significant role in fostering international scientific collaboration—serving on global advisory boards, delivering keynote lectures, and promoting academic exchange across Asia, Europe, and North America. His leadership in organizations such as IEEE, and his election to esteemed institutions including the U.S. National Academy of Engineering, the Royal Academy of Engineering (UK), and the Royal Society of Edinburgh, reflect his stature as a unifying figure in global science and engineering. Through his scholarship, mentorship, and service, Dr. Madni has made enduring contributions to international academia and the global innovation ecosystem.
