The International CORE Academy of Sciences and Humanities is honored to announce that Professor Bobomurat Ahmedov, a leading scholar in relativistic astrophysics and gravitation, has been appointed a Member of the Academic Committee of the CORE Academy. Professor Ahmedov is a Fellow of the CORE Academy in the Division of Natural Sciences.

The Academic Committee is a vital component of the Academy’s organizational structure, responsible for overseeing and advising on academic affairs and providing strategic guidance for the Academy’s future development. It plays a central role in upholding academic standards, nominating and electing fellowship candidates, and guiding the strategic direction of research across the Academy and its affiliated institutions. Experts with distinguished achievements and reputations in the related fields are invited to join as members of the Academic Committee.
"A Member of the Academic Committee of the CORE Academy is a leading scholar with distinguished achievements and a high reputation in relevant fields, who serves as a strategic advisor on fellowship nominations and elections, provides guidance on scientific and academic development, and upholds the Academy’s highest scholarly standards."

Professor Ahmedov serves as Head of the Theoretical Astrophysics Department at the Ulugh Beg Astronomical Institute and Professor at the National University of Uzbekistan. His research explores physics in the strong-gravity regime, advancing our understanding of black holes and compact objects, from particle dynamics and quasi-periodic oscillations to the optical properties and shadows that enable new observational tests of general relativity. By combining analytical theory with contemporary observational frontiers, his work has shaped the agenda for next-generation studies of extreme astrophysical environments.
His collaborations link researchers across Eurasia and beyond, building a modern school of relativistic astrophysics in Uzbekistan that is visible on the global stage. Professor Ahmedov’s honors and distinctions illustrate his longstanding contributions to science and scholarly community-building. He was elected Fellow of TWAS and Fellow of IAS, and subsequently Member of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan. He has been recognized as a Web of Science “Science Leader” (2017) and a Scopus “Researcher of the Year” (2018), and has served as Editor-in-Chief of the Uzbek Journal of Physics and as an editor or reviewer for numerous international journals.
Equally significant is Professor Ahmedov’s dedication to international scientific cooperation and capacity-building. Through programs and grants associated with ICTP, DAAD, Volkswagen Stiftung, Erasmus+, and other partners, he has coordinated research networks, mentored emerging scholars, and fostered cross-border exchanges that translate rigorous inquiry into shared scientific progress. These efforts mirror the CORE Academy’s mission to connect knowledge across regions and disciplines for the benefit of humanity.

Across borders and disciplines, we join minds and means to build an open and rigorous global scholarly community—Advancing Knowledge for Humanity.
