CORE Academy Delegation Members Honoured at the 80th Anniversary of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences

During the 80th anniversary celebrations of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) in Baku, members of the CORE Academy delegation were formally honoured for their contributions to international scientific cooperation. The ceremony brought together leading scientists and representatives of national academies and research institutions from more than twenty countries.

At the jubilee gathering, Professor Li Lei, Member of the Executive Board of CORE Academy, Professor Yingsan Geng, Council Member of CORE Academy, and Dr Raymond Jiarui Wu, Executive Vice Secretariat-General of CORE Academy, were among those recognized by ANAS leadership.


According to the official distinctions conferred during the ceremony, Professor Li Lei received the “Lev Landau” jubilee badge of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, awarded for outstanding contributions to the development of science and for strengthening international scientific ties. Dr Raymond J. Wu was awarded the official ANAS badge of honor in recognition of his efforts to promote long-term cooperation between CORE Academy and Azerbaijani partners. Professor Yingsan Geng was also formally acknowledged during the celebrations for his role in supporting international collaboration between CORE Academy and ANAS.

In his address at the jubilee session, Professor Li Lei emphasized the strategic importance of deepening cooperation with Azerbaijani scientists. He noted that there is “great potential for implementing joint research and innovation projects between CORE Academy and Azerbaijani scholars,” highlighting opportunities in joint laboratories, researcher exchanges, and training programmes for young scientists.

The awards were presented by Academician Isa Habibbayli, President of ANAS, who underscored the Academy’s commitment to building a more open, inclusive, and effective global scientific cooperation system. The recognition of CORE Academy representatives reflects the growing partnership between ANAS and CORE Academy in areas spanning natural sciences, engineering, information technology, and the humanities and social sciences.


The CORE Academy delegation’s participation in the jubilee celebrations, together with the honours received by Professors Li Lei and Yingsan Geng and Dr Raymond J. Wu, marks an important milestone in the Academy’s engagement in the Eurasian scientific space. CORE Academy will continue to work closely with ANAS and other partner institutions in Azerbaijan to develop joint research platforms, nurture young talent, and advance its mission of “advancing knowledge for humanity.”
