On 17 November 2025, at the invitation of Professor Kadir Gulamov—Chairman of the Council of Physicists of Uzbekistan, Professor at New Uzbekistan University, and Fellow of CORE Academy—a delegation of the International Core Academy of Sciences and Humanities visited New Uzbekistan University in Tashkent. During the visit, the two sides held in-depth academic exchanges and formally signed a Memorandum of Cooperation on Scientific and Academic Cooperation between CORE Academy and the Council of Physicists of Uzbekistan.

The delegation was led by Professor Lei Li, Member of the Board of CORE Academy, and Dr Raymond Jiarui Wu, Executive Vice Secretariat-General of CORE Academy. In addition to Academician Gulamov, Professor Ahmadjon Abdujabbarov, Corresponding Fellow of CORE Academy, and Academician Bobomurat Ahmedov, newly appointed member of the CORE Academy Academic Committee and Academician of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan, also participated in the programme.

Introducing New Uzbekistan University and Its Vision
At the beginning of the meeting, Academician Gulamov warmly welcomed the CORE Academy delegation on behalf of New Uzbekistan University and briefly reviewed the university’s founding vision. He noted that New Uzbekistan University, established in 2021 upon the initiative of the President of Uzbekistan, is a new and ambitious science and technology-oriented university tasked with driving innovation and reform in the country’s higher education system.

The head of the university’s International Relations Office then gave a systematic introduction to the institution’s organisational structure, academic programmes, and research development. New Uzbekistan University currently comprises four schools—Engineering, Computer Science, Humanities and Social Sciences, and Management—with around 1,500 students and 80 faculty and staff members. The university has established cooperative links with leading global institutions such as the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), the University of Cambridge, and the Technical University of Munich (TUM), and is committed to building a first-class, internationally oriented teaching and research environment.
During the exchange session, Academician Ahmedov presented the ongoing plans for the Tashkent Institute for Advanced Studies and its proposed network of interdisciplinary laboratories. He emphasized that the institute is actively developing high-level, cross-disciplinary research platforms and hopes to cooperate closely with CORE Academy in areas such as international scientific collaboration, joint research projects, and the establishment of international joint laboratories.
Deepening the Eurasian Scientific Cooperation Network
On behalf of CORE Academy, Professor Lei Li expressed sincere gratitude to Academician Gulamov for his thoughtful arrangements and extended greetings to all participants. He gave a detailed overview of CORE Academy’s global partnership network, its practical experiences in advancing scientific cooperation within the broader Eurasian and “Belt and Road” framework, and the Academy’s progress in building international joint laboratories.
Professor Li highlighted that, on 6 November 2025, during the celebrations of the 80th anniversary of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) and with the support and approval of the Ministry of Science and Education of Azerbaijan, CORE Academy signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the Institute of Physics of the Republic of Azerbaijan to jointly establish the “International Eurasian Laboratory.” This new platform is designed to serve as a bridge for future scientific cooperation across the Eurasian continent.

Professor Li stressed that CORE Academy attaches great importance to, and fully supports, Academician Ahmedov’s proposals for joint research projects and the creation of international laboratories. In the future, both sides may explore diversified modes of cooperation at multiple levels—from concrete research projects to innovative research institutions and joint laboratories—so as to foster complementary strengths and a pattern of synergistic development.
Signing of the MoU with the Council of Physicists of Uzbekistan
Academician Gulamov highly commended CORE Academy’s sustained efforts in building international scientific cooperation networks and promoting global research collaboration. He underlined that the signing of the MoU marks an important starting point for structured cooperation between CORE Academy and the Council of Physicists of Uzbekistan.

The Council, he stated, is ready to work with CORE Academy to expand practical collaboration in basic scientific research, training of young scholars, academic exchanges and mutual visits, and the implementation of concrete research projects in physics and related fields.
In a warm and solemn atmosphere, Academician Gulamov, on behalf of the Council of Physicists of Uzbekistan, and Professor Lei Li, on behalf of CORE Academy, formally signed the Memorandum of Understanding, laying an institutional foundation and long-term framework for deepening cooperation between the two parties.

Recognising New Members of CORE Academy
Following the signing ceremony, Professor Lei Li and Dr Raymond Jiarui Wu, on behalf of CORE Academy, presented official Fellowship Certificates to Academician Kadir Gulamov, elected as a Fellow of CORE Academy in 2025, and to Professor Ahmadjon Abdujabbarov, elected as a Corresponding Fellow of CORE Academy. They also presented an Academic Committee Appointment Certificate to Academician Bobomurat Ahmedov in recognition of his outstanding contributions to physics and his active role in advancing international academic cooperation.
The meeting concluded in a cordial and productive atmosphere. Representatives from both sides took group photos to commemorate the occasion and expressed their shared hope that this visit and the signing of the MoU will serve as a new starting point for deeper collaboration between CORE Academy, New Uzbekistan University, and the Council of Physicists of Uzbekistan.
Both parties agreed to further strengthen coordination in the future, using science as a bridge and cooperation as a bond, and to jointly write a new chapter of mutually beneficial, forward-looking scientific cooperation between China and Uzbekistan, and across the broader Eurasian region.
