CORE Academy is pleased to announce a collaboration with Academia Europaea for the 2026 AE Workshop on Advances and Challenges of AI, to be held on 16–17 November 2026 at the Academia Europaea Wrocław Knowledge Hub in Wrocław, Poland.

The workshop is organized by the Academia Europaea Informatics Section, with the support of the Academia Europaea Wrocław Knowledge Hub. It follows two previous workshops on artificial intelligence held in London in 2024 and Paris in 2025, which brought together speakers and participants from both within and beyond Academia Europaea.

At the invitation of Professor Erol Gelenbe, Fellow of CORE Academy in the Division of Mathematics and Information Sciences and Member of Academia Europaea, CORE Academy has been invited to recommend suitable Fellows, Members, and distinguished scholars who may wish to attend the workshop, give a talk, present their research, or take part in academic discussions. Outstanding younger scholars and researchers may also be recommended for participation, including possible talks or poster presentations where appropriate.

The workshop is expected to bring together approximately 50 participants, including around 20 main speakers, alongside poster presentations and possible panel discussions. There will be no registration fee for participants. The Academia Europaea Wrocław Knowledge Hub will provide coffee breaks and lunches, and preferential arrangements for local hotel and university residence accommodation are expected to be available.

The main themes of the workshop include, but are not limited to, science discovery and mathematical proof, planning and optimization, software engineering and program development, digital twins, cybersecurity of AI and AI for cybersecurity, trust in AI, computer architectures for AI, and energy consumption by AI. The organizers have also indicated that broader, interdisciplinary topics are welcome, including AI ethics and governance, AI for the social sciences and humanities, the history and future development of AI, and the wider economic and social consequences of the rise of AI. Both formal academic presentations based on completed research and broader talks on ongoing ideas, projects, and emerging questions may be considered.

This collaboration reflects CORE Academy’s continuing commitment to international scholarly exchange and to responsible, interdisciplinary dialogue on artificial intelligence. As AI reshapes the conditions of knowledge, research, education, and public life, such exchanges are essential for bringing together scientific, technological, humanistic, and social perspectives.

CORE Academy warmly invites interested Fellows, Members, and affiliated scholars to contact the Secretariat if they wish to attend the workshop, give a talk, make a presentation, join a possible panel discussion, or recommend suitable younger scholars and researchers for participation.

To support coordination with the organizers, interested colleagues are encouraged to provide the following information where available: name, affiliation, current position, CORE Academy status if applicable, preferred form of participation, proposed title or topic, a short abstract or description of the proposed contribution, and a brief biography or CV.

For coordination purposes, expressions of interest are encouraged as early as possible. The deadline for CORE Academy-related expressions of interest has been extended to 15 July 2026.

The organizers have further indicated that, based on the 2024, 2025, and 2026 workshops, a Special Issue of the AAIS flagship journal is expected to be launched, potentially appearing in 2027, to include refereed papers submitted by speakers from the three events. Further details concerning the Special Issue will be shared when available.
